Sultan of Pahang joins flood relief efforts, visits affected residents in Taman Pelangkah | Malaysia

HIS Majesty the  Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, joined residents and authorities today in a community clean-up and flood relief effort in Taman Pelangkah, Pekan, following days of severe flooding in the area.

The programme saw the participation of staff from the Pahang Royal Council, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the Civil Defence Force (APM), and local residents. Al-Sultan Abdullah arrived at around 11 a.m., personally inspecting the flood-affected areas and the extent of damage to homes.

Taman Pelangkah, located near the Pahang River, had been inundated for four consecutive days before waters receded fully yesterday. The Sultan visited residents’ homes to assess the impact, while providing personal contributions to assist flood victims.

As of 4 p.m. today, a total of 347 individuals across three districts in Pahang remain in temporary evacuation centres. This includes 70 residents at two centres in Pekan, 242 in the Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Selamat centre in Kuantan, and 35 in the Balai Raya Kampung Baru Pertanian in Maran.

The royal visit underscores ongoing efforts to support communities affected by natural disasters and highlights the importance of collaboration between authorities and residents in relief and recovery operations. – December 22, 2025
