After four consecutive days of decline, there was a rise in the stock market today i.e. Friday, December 19. Sensex closed at 84,929, up 447 points. Nifty also gained 150 points and closed at the level of 25,966.
Out of all 30 Sensex stocks, 26 were up and 4 were down. Shares of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle, Power Grid and BEL rose up to 2%. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 41 rose and 9 declined. All sectors of NSE are up. Auto, realty and healthcare witnessed the biggest growth.
Global market boom
- In Asian markets, Korea’s Kospi closed 0.65% higher at 4,020 and Japan’s Nikkei index closed 1.03% higher at 49,507.
- Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose 0.75% to close at 25,690. China’s Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.36% to close at 3,890.
- On December 18, America’s Dow Jones closed at 47,952, up 0.14%. At the same time, Nasdaq Composite was up by 1.38% and S&P 500 was up by 0.79%.
