In a move aimed at strengthening the India–Kuwait Strategic Partnership, India’s Ambassador to Kuwait, H.e. Paramita Tripathi, met Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss ways to expand bilateral cooperation across key areas of mutual interest.
According to a statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Kuwait, the meeting focused on enhancing diplomatic engagement and reinforcing collaboration in strategic, economic and regional spheres, reflecting the shared commitment of both countries to deeper partnership.
The engagement comes amid growing diplomatic momentum between New Delhi and Kuwait City. Earlier this week, Ambassador Tripathi held discussions with representatives of Indian community associations at the Indian Embassy, commending their contributions to community welfare and cultural outreach, IANS reports.
The meeting also explored ways to strengthen coordination among Indian associations and enhance the well-being of the Indian diaspora in Kuwait.
Bilateral ties were further underscored last week with the successful conclusion of a five-day goodwill visit by the Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Sarthak to Kuwait. The visit included a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Kuwait Navy Ship KNS Al Garoh, highlighting the growing maritime cooperation between the two countries.
The Indian Embassy noted that the joint exercise enhanced maritime interoperability and mutual understanding, paving the way for future cooperation in regional and international maritime operations. A reception hosted onboard ICGS Sarthak brought together Kuwaiti officials, diplomats, members of the Indian community and friends of India.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Tripathi emphasized the steady growth of India–Kuwait relations under the Strategic Partnership framework and reaffirmed the shared priority placed by both nations on regional peace, stability and prosperity.
Earlier, on November 12, Ambassador Tripathi met Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya and formally presented a copy of her Letter of Credence. Discussions during that meeting focused on advancing bilateral objectives and addressing regional and global issues of common concern.
