His appeal came after Jake Lang, a far-right Republican candidate for the US Senate, insulted the Holy Qur’an during an anti-Islam march in Plano, Florida on Sunday. The sacrilegious act has drawn widespread condemnation from Muslims and human rights activists, calling it a clear provocation and an insult to the sentiments of millions of Muslims in the United States and around the world, according to Press TV. 

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi described the act as a crime against “the greatest religious sanctities on earth,” emphasizing that it forms part of “an ongoing war” against Islam led by the United States, Britain, the Israeli regime, and their allies in the East and West.

These forces, he said, are seeking to corrupt human societies and dominate them. The desecration of religious sanctities goes hand in hand with “broader efforts” to enslave nations, plunder their wealth, and occupy their lands, he added.

Houthi said the repeated insults and the soft and hard war waged by Zionism and its allies represent a clear act of hostility toward Islam and Muslims.

He added that such actions aim to weaken the position of the Holy Qur’an in the hearts of Muslims and distance them from its teachings, reflecting “deep-seated hatred” toward Islam.

Pointing to Israeli crimes against Palestinians and Islamic holy sites in occupied Palestine, Houthi emphasized that these acts, along with Western support for Israel, serve as further evidence of this hostility.

He stressed that Muslims — governments and peoples alike, as well as elites and the wider public — bear both a religious and moral responsibility to confront oppressive and misleading forces led by Zionism.

Houthi further warned that indifference and silence in the face of such insults only embolden adversaries and represent a serious failure of faith, values, and principles.
