The Oro Provincial Executive Council has endorsed a new interim regulatory framework to manage informal sector activities within its central business district (CBD), imposing hefty fines and penalties to address law and order issues, including illegal street vending and public nuisance in Popondetta.
Under this framework, offenders of illegal street vending, public nuisance, and unlawful assemblies and public smoking, including illegal betelnut trading, chewing & spitting together with offenses such as unauthorized spray-paint possession/sale and unsafe food handling and sale will be fined up to K10,000 or 3-years imprisonment.
