Critics ‘Horrified’ By Trump’s 3 Words About Brown University Shooting

Critics accused Donald Trump of showing a distinct lack of empathy with his comments on the mass shooting at Brown University, in which two people were killed this weekend.

But the president then said:

“Things can happen, so to the nine injured, get well fast. And to the families of those two who are no longer with us, I pay my deepest regards and respects from the United States of America. Thank you very much. It’s a very important thing to say. And we mean it.”

While Trump did send his “deepest regards,” the “things can happen” line still drew anger on social media.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) press office led the charge with its latest slam of Trump, simply writing on behalf of the potential Democratic 2028 presidential candidate: “No words.”
