The Just-Opened Riu Ventura Brings 705 Rooms, 36 Swim-Up Suites, and a Different Kind of All-Inclusive Experience to Cancun

Cancun’s hotel zone has welcomed a major new arrival with the opening of Riu Ventura, a large-scale, contemporary resort set beside Playa Delfines. The property represents a new direction for RIU in Mexico, pairing the company’s 24-hour all-inclusive concept with features the brand has never offered in the country before. With 705 rooms, a rooftop adults-only pool, and private swim-up suites positioned for extra privacy, the hotel marks a noticeable step forward for the chain’s long-established presence in the region.

This is RIU’s sixth hotel in Cancun and brings its total footprint in Quintana Roo to fifteen resorts — a substantial commitment to a destination where the company continues to expand, diversify, and attract travelers from across the Americas and Europe.

The Resort

Riu Ventura feels built for scale but designed with a sense of purpose. The lobby opens into clean-lined spaces, wide terraces, and long views toward the Caribbean, setting the tone for a property that leans into modern edges and bright interiors. The room inventory includes 36 first-floor swim-up suites, the first time RIU has introduced this room category in Mexico. And if you know us by now, we love swim-up suites. They’re an amenity that’s always worth the premium. Always.

Elevated slightly above ground level, these suites offer guests both privacy and direct access to their own small pools — a rare option in Cancun’s established hotel corridor.

Upstairs, the resort debuts another first for the brand: an adults-only pool and Sky Bar on the sixth floor, designed as a quiet, panoramic counterpart to the busier pool decks below. It’s a space shaped around the Caribbean horizon, with a dedicated bar program and a calmer atmosphere than the main pool areas.

Families have their own part of the property, with a water play zone, a kids’ club staffed by the RIU Land entertainment team, and four ground-level pools arranged for easy movement between lounging, swimming, and activities.

Dining

Riu Ventura brings one of the largest culinary lineups in the chain’s Mexico portfolio. The hotel’s restaurant selection spans Japanese-inspired dishes at Kaori, regional Mexican cooking at Agave, and coastal Italian at Rimini, alongside the fusion-driven Kulinarium and the brand’s classic steakhouse. The main buffet incorporates live-cooking stations, and two specialty snack concepts — Pepe’s Food for grilled options and Tiki Tako for tacos — give guests additional flexibility throughout the day.

The resort also introduces a refreshed Sports Bar identity built around an American-country concept, serving à la carte comfort dishes and offering snacks and drinks twenty-four hours a day.

What We Like

Riu Ventura stands out as a clear evolution in the RIU portfolio. The adults-only rooftop area gives the resort a dual personality: family-friendly on the lower levels, more refined and quiet above. The swim-up suites bring a new level of room-category variety, appealing to travelers looking for privacy without the price tag of a boutique villa.

The entertainment program remains classic RIU, anchored by the RIU Party events held at nearby Riu Caribe. Guests have access to the full lineup — themed nights like Jungle, Pink, White, and Neon — which have developed a loyal following and remain one of the brand’s most recognizable offerings.

How to Get There

The hotel sits beside Playa Delfines in Cancun’s hotel zone, with straightforward access from the international airport by taxi or private transfer. Once on property, everything functions within RIU’s familiar all-inclusive framework: dining, drinks, entertainment, and activities are available across the hotel’s day-and-night programming.

Prices

Rates are pretty attractive right, with rooms at $327 per night in January, according to Riu’s booking platform.
