Lazarus Chakwera and running Mate Mumba after results show them trailing DPP
LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Police in Lilongwe have arrested up former Minister of Trade and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) runningmate Vitumbiko Mumba.
Accordig to Times360, Police picked up Mumba from his Area 47 residence around 11:30 am.
It is believed that Mumba’s arrest has something to do with the comments he made at a press briefing in Lilongwe after the September 16 general elections in which he uttered the words ‘WE HAVE GOT IT’ which insinuated an alleged election fraud by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
Mumba has been taken to Lingadzi Police Station.
During the September elections, President Peter Mutharika of DPP ousted former Malawi leader Lazarus Chakwera and MCP out of power.
