Franka Inn in Fontana, Gozo is set to reopen its doors this weekend under the direction of Jeffrey Farrugia and renowned chef Rafel Sammut, the team behind the acclaimed Briju restaurant.
The pair announced that the refreshed establishment will offer a menu inspired by Maltese produce and flavours, with diners spending an average of around €45 per person.
The restaurant has been restored to highlight its traditional Maltese architectural features, paired with a nostalgic interior designed to evoke the island’s heritage. Farrugia and Sammut said they aim to create a space that caters to every occasion, from intimate dinners for two to large gatherings with tailored menus and music to elevate the experience
“We will be serving meals using Maltese produce and flavours,” they shared, noting that their vision is to bring the same standard and philosophy that Briju is known for to Gozo. Their focus remains on fresh, local ingredients and heartfelt, uncomplicated cooking.
Franka Inn will begin with limited opening hours as operations settle in. For now, the restaurant will welcome guests for dinner on Thursdays, lunch and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays, and lunch on Sundays. The new team hopes the inn will quickly become a Gozo dining destination, blending authenticity, comfort, and a strong commitment to Maltese culinary identity.
