People of Traditional Authority (T/A) Malemia in Nsanje South West Constituency have shared with their legislator Walter Nyamilandu Manda areas that need attention.
In an interview on Tuesday, group village head Mpangira cited a bridge across Mwanalundu River, hostels at Chididi Secondary School, an Admarc depot, a health centre and market shelters.

He said for long, people in the area have struggled to access social services nearby as many amenities are located at Nsanje Boma.
Said Mpangira: “For instance, it has taken 11 years to complete a health post in the area. We now have received news that it will be commissioned in three months.
“We also need an Admarc depot as we are forced to go to either Nsanje Boma or Mbenje to buy maize and farm inputs.”
The village head also asked duty-bearers to expedite construction of Mkhutche Police Unit.
A community member Lucius Simbi asked the lawmaker to facilitate construction of classroom blocks at Masimayera and Chididi primary schools.
In response, Nyamilandu Manda said he will work with other duty-bearers and community structures to ensure the mentioned projects materialise.
“It is my desire to discuss with other duty-bearers to prioritise Mwanalundu Bridge to improve mobility in the area. However, I want to facilitate investment in irrigation farming to boost food security in my area,” he said.
The parliamentarian also urged traditional leaders and local structures to include only deserving beneficiaries to receive relief food during the lean season.
