The latest ICC rankings have been released. Indian star batsman Virat Kohli has made a significant impact in the ODI rankings. Virat has jumped two places to secure the second position in the ICC Men’s ODI batting rankings. Virat Kohli achieved this by overtaking New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell. The two titans of Indian cricket Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli now occupy the top 2 spots in the mens ODI rankings.
Virat Kohli climbs up in the rankings
Currently, Virat Kohli has 773 rating points and is in second place, while Daryl Mitchell has slipped one place to third with 766 points. Rohit Sharma holds the top spot in the ICC ODI batting rankings. Rohit remains in first place with 781 rating points. Rohit has held the top position for a long time.
Virat rewarded for his outstanding performance
Virat Kohli has been rewarded for his outstanding performance in the recently concluded ODI series against South Africa. Kohli scored two centuries and one half-century in the three-match ODI series. In this series, Virat Kohli scored 302 runs in three innings, with an average of 151.00. Kohli played innings of 135, 102, and 65* runs.
Kohli hasn’t held this position among ODI batsmen since losing the number one spot to Pakistan’s Babar Azam in April 2021, but he is now close to reclaiming the top position. India’s next ODI matches will be against New Zealand at home, starting on January 11th. Virat is expected to feature in this three-match series.
Kuldeep Yadav also shines
Kuldeep Yadav has also gained three places in the ODI bowling rankings. Kuldeep is now in second place with 655 rating points. He is behind Rashid Khan (710) and Jofra Archer (670). He will also have a chance to claim the number one spot in the future.
