Baku hosts First Meeting of Ministers of Labour, Employment and Social Protection of OTS

AKIPRESS.COM – The inaugural Meeting of the Ministers of Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Organization of Turkic States was held on December 5 in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Meeting was hosted by Anar Aliyev, Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and attended by attended by  Mr. Vedat Işikhan, Minister of Labour and Social Security of the Republic of Türkiye; Mr. Kamchibek Dosmatov, First Deputy Minister of Labour, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic; Ms. Viktoria Shegai, Vice Minister of Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Mr. Sirojiddin Bobokulov, Deputy Minister of Employment and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Mr. Sandor Czomba, State Secretary for Employment Policy of the Ministry of National Economy of Hungary; Mr. Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, Minister of Labour and Social Security of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus; Ms. Halbibi Tachjanova, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of Turkmenistan, as well as Amb. Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the OTS.

In his address, the Secretary General of the OTS emphasized the growing relevance of cooperation among the OTS Member States in the fields of labour, employment and social protection, in line with the Turkic World Vision-2040 and the OTS Strategy 2022-2026. He underlined the importance of establishing dedicated mechanisms aimed at promoting decent work, enhancing workforce mobility, strengthening social protection systems and advancing digital solutions in employment services across the Turkic States.

The heads of delegation welcomed the launch of the platform and highlighted the significance of sharing best practices, enhancing vocational training and skills development, promoting labour mobility and coordinating efforts to address evolving labour-market challenges.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Parties signed the Declaration of the 1st Meeting of Ministers of Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the OTS. The 2nd Meeting of Ministers will be held in the Republic of Türkiye in 2026.
