Benghazi – The first conference of the Maghreb Arab Writers and Literati Union began today. The event is sponsored by the Libyan government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The conference saw wide participation from heads of writers’ unions across the Maghreb. They praised the event as a significant milestone for regional cultural cooperation. The Foreign Ministry stated the conference implements the vision of Minister Abdul Hadi Al-Hweij. He supports cultural diplomacy to enhance communication between peoples.
The two-day event includes literary evenings, intellectual seminars, and dialogue sessions. They will focus on the region’s shared cultural and heritage. This aims to strengthen ties and promote joint creative work.
The program includes a field trip for visiting guests. They will learn about Libya’s archaeological sites and development achievements. The trip will also feature a visit to the city of Derna. A special cultural evening will be held there. Guests will see the new face of the city, which suffered an unprecedented humanitarian disaster.
