Assam down town University holds EduElevate 2.0 conclave in Guwahati

Assam down town University organised the second edition of EduElevate, a Northeast educators’ conclave, on 6 December 2025 at Radisson Blu in Guwahati. The event brought together education leaders, academicians, industry representatives and policymakers to discuss emerging trends in student development and the future of higher education in the region.

The programme opened with a formal inaugural ceremony and lamp lighting in the presence of invited dignitaries. Following the inauguration, keynote speaker Dr Dimpy Mahanta, Head of the Department and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Cotton University, delivered an address highlighting the role of institutions in strengthening student well-being.

The first panel discussion, moderated by Dr Manjusha Deka Saikia, Associate Professor in the Programme of Psychology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Assam down town University, focused on institutional practices that support student mental health. The panel included Prof Saswati Choudhury, Acting Director of the Omeo Kumar Das Institute of Social Change and Development, Dr Mythili Hazarika, Clinical Psychologist and Associate Professor at Guwahati Medical College, Arup Kumar Baishya, Social Entrepreneur and Acumen Fellow in the India Spring 2025 Cohort, and Sandeep Gulia, Zonal Academic Excellence Director for the North and East at LEAD Group. The discussion highlighted awareness-driven policies, clinician-led interventions, supportive educational environments and community-based models aimed at addressing holistic student well-being.

The second panel, moderated by Dr Sunandan Baruah, Director of Innovation, Startup and Acceleration at Assam down town University, examined the theme Future-Proofing India’s Workforce: Aligning HEIs with AI-Driven Job Markets and Atmanirbhar Bharat. Panelists included Rohit Gupta, Co-Founder of College Vidya, Ankit Shyamsukha, CEO of ICA EduSkills, Rajiv Agarwal, CEO of EduVerse, Manish Kumar, AVP – Customer Success at Meritto, and Prasenjit Chanda, Deputy General Manager and Project Head at L&T. The session explored technology-enabled learning models, AI-focused curricula and the evolving skills required for an industry-ready workforce. Speakers emphasised the need for higher education institutions to adapt to emerging technologies, strengthen industry partnerships and align skill development with the goals of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The conclave concluded with the presentation of the AdtU Excellence Awards, followed by acknowledgements and a vote of thanks. A networking lunch allowed participants to exchange ideas and discuss potential collaborations.

The winners of the three award categories were announced during the event. PM SHRI Nilbagan Model HS School in Hojai received the EduElevate School of the Year Award with prize money of Rs 100000. Prasenjit Sarma of Barpeta received the EduElevate Teacher of the Year Award with prize money of Rs 50000. Vidya: The Living School, Dhemaji, received the EduElevate Emerging School Award.
