Ngchesar State (December 1, 2025) — Ngchesar voters went to the polls on November 28 to elect nine at-large legislators, with early results showing a strong presence of women and younger candidates among the leading vote-getters. Although the numbers remain unofficial until final verification this Friday, December 5, the preliminary tally highlights shifting demographics in state leadership.
Thirteen candidates contested the election, including five women — two between the ages of 30 and 40 — marking a notable representation of both young and female leadership in the state race.
According to unofficial results released by the Palau Election Commission, the top nine candidates currently leading for the available seats are:
- Kyarii Kazuma — 150
- Jackson Doktok — 137
- Isikl Benjamin — 136
- Todd Ngiramengior — 136
- Junior Heroncio Spesungel — 129
- Frankie E. Rechelluul — 127
- Hasinta K. Tabelual — 125
- Sylvester R. Ngirkelau — 123
- Chubby Mai — 111
Two women and a number of younger contenders appear in the top tier of voter support, affirming what observers note as a continuing rise in diverse leadership interest at state Elections, as demonstrated at the recent Koror State elections, where five women were elected to the state legislature.
Ngchesar recorded 90 absentee ballots, 14 walk-ins and 18 confined voters in this election. The Commission reported that physical absentee ballots have not yet arrived, and a full recount and verification is scheduled for Friday.
Once Ngchesar’s numbers are certified, attention will shift to the next state contest — Airai’s election — set for March 2, 2026.
