India provides medical aid including two self-contained medical units

An  Indian Air Force (IAF) C‑130J aircraft landed at Katunayake, carrying two BHISHM Cubes and a five-member medical team led by Wing Commander Sanjay Kumar.

BHISHM Cubes are modular, self-contained medical units designed for rapid deployment in disaster-affected or remote areas. Each Cube is equipped to provide emergency medical care, including trauma management, basic surgery and life-support facilities, enabling immediate humanitarian and relief operations.

The visiting IAF medical team, will provide training to Sri Lankan medical professionals on the operation and use of BHISHM Cubes while assisting communities affected by Cyclone Ditwa. Following the training and relief activities, the two BHISHM Cubes will be formally donated to Sri Lanka to enhance the country’s disaster preparedness and emergency response capabilities.
