It is the Government of Guyana’s intention for Guyanese to maximise the opportunities available in providing supply vessels and other support to ExxonMobil’s offshore Stabroek Block project, and it is therefore urging locals to form consortiums if investing alone is too financially burdensome.

President Irfaan Ali stated that support for this initiative is a priority for his government next year, as he highlighted that the returns on the investment are at the higher end of the dollar than for many other areas. He also announced that 2026 will also see a comprehensive national economic expansion and infrastructure integration plan being rolled out.

“There is one that we started that we must get done and dust it very quickly. And that is the opportunity in shipping with the supply vessels. I challenged the consortium [ExxonMobil and partners] that we must be able to put together a consortium here in Guyana that can be able to be part of the ecosystem, in terms of the supply vessels and other support vessels to the operation, and we have to get that done,” the President said during the feature address at the Guyana Oil and Gas Energy Chamber’s Annual Awards Presentation Dinner, held at the Marriott Hotel, Kingston, on Friday night.
