Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja on Tuesday convened a meeting of the Raja Seat Development Committee to discuss development measures for the popular tourist spot in the city.
Presiding over the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to take necessary steps to make Raja Seat garden, one of Madikeri’s major tourist attractions, convenient for tourists.
Horticulture Department Deputy Director Shashidhar informed the committee that a development plan was being prepared to improve basic amenities at the site.
He said the annual flower show at Raja Seat will be organised in January or February next year.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar pointed out that the zipline facility at the venue is being operated by individuals who are not familiar with the Kannada language, leading to complaints from tourists. He suggested deploying staff who can communicate with visitors in Kannada.
Nirmithi Kendra Project Director Sachin said that an estimated cost plan has been prepared for the proposed infrastructure works at the spot.
Officials from the Tourism Department, City Municipal Council, and other departments were present.
