No. 11 Oklahoma snapped No. 4 Alabama’s 17-game home winning streak on Saturday, 23-21.
Three Crimson Tide turnovers resulted in 17 Oklahoma points, including a Ty Simpson’s first-quarter pick 6, negated more than 400 yards of total offense from Kalen DeBoer’s team.
Now, all eyes turn to Alabama’s chances for a bid to the SEC Championship Game as well as its standing with the College Football Playoff committee.
The Crimson Tide (8-2, 6-1 SEC) had a chance in the waning minutes, but Simpson’s fourth-down pass to Ryan Williams fell incomplete.
The Sooners ran out the clock from there, setting off a raucous celebration by their visiting fans. Oklahoma — a six-point underdog, according to BetMGM Sportsbook — managed just 212 yards of offense but had an interception and recovered two fumbles.
Alabama still controls its destiny in the SEC championship game race and can secure a spot by beating rival Auburn in the Iron Bowl in two weeks.
