Mauritania’s Permanent Representative to United Nations Office Presents Acceptance Document for Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies

On 10 November, Ambassador Aicha Vall Verges, Permanent Representative of Mauritania to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, presented Mauritania’s acceptance document for the Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies to the WTO Director-General.

During the meeting, the Ambassador highlighted Mauritania’s efforts to preserve fishery resources and combat illegal fishing, and reaffirmed Mauritania’s commitment to actively contribute to the implementation of this agreement, while drawing attention to the importance of supporting our country in its implementation.

Finally, she congratulated the WTO Director-General for her efforts to enforce fair, balanced, and mutually beneficial trade rules.

For her part, WTO Director-General N’gozi Okonjo-Iweala welcomed the ambassador, emphasizing the importance of the agreement on fisheries subsidies. She praised Mauritania’s efforts to preserve the oceans through its accession to various agreements to preserve fishery resources.
