A Lake Charles man who gunned down a robbery victim in 2023 has been sentenced to life in prison.

Prosecutors said Kevin E. Williams, 26, planned an armed robbery, met the potential victim and then fatally shot him in the head, according to a news release from the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office. 

On Jan. 31, 2023, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office arrived at a home off Westwood Road in Westlake and found Damarcus A. Ardoin, 25, dead inside, a release from the office states. Deputies arrested Williams on Feb. 6, 2023, and he was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on a count of second-degree murder.

Williams was found guilty of second-degree murder on Feb. 28. On Friday, 14th Judicial District Court Division H Judge Kendrick Guidry sentenced him to life in prison without the benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence, according to a release. In addition, Williams was sentenced to 25 years on a count of obstruction of justice to second-degree murder. That term will be served consecutively with the first sentence.
