HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WOWK) — Marshall’s defense could not hold strong the entire game with a sputtering offense to take down the Dukes of James Madison University.
James Madison pulled away in the first half with a 21-12 lead, with Marshall’s offense only scoring one touchdown attributed to Antwan Roberts with a 15-yard TD run. The Thundering Herd would pick up the pace in the second half, with a key defensive turnover and a touchdown drive ending with a Tracy Stephens touchdown thrown by Carlos Del Rio-Wilson. James Madison would come back and ice the game in the 4th quarter with a 49-yard touchdown pass to Wayne Knight.
Marshall quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson went 16/35, 154 passing yards with 1 TD.
James Madison quarterback Alonza Barnett III 14/24, 270 passing yards with 3 TD’s and 1 INT.
Marshall falls to 4-5 on the season, and 2-3 in Sun Belt play. They will play Georgia State at Center Parc Stadium in Atlanta next Saturday.
