Typhoon Uwan (Fung-wong), the Philippines’ 21st tropical cyclone for 2025, is barreling toward the country, where it is set to trigger torrential rain and potentially catastrophic winds. It has been rapidly intensifying and could become a super typhoon.
Uwan is headed for landfall in Luzon, but due to its “enormous” diameter spanning around 1,400 kilometers, even the Visayas and Mindanao will be affected in varying degrees.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned the public to be on alert for hazards, including floods, landslides, and storm surges.

Cebu town officials warn of possible overflow in landslide-induced ‘dam’
Officials of Minglanilla, Cebu, are warning residents and enforcing evacuations in barangays that could be affected by a possible overflow in a landslide-induced “dam.”
According to Minglanilla Mayor Rajiv Enad, Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi) caused a landslide to occur in the uphill Barangay Manduang last Tuesday, November 4, forming a dam that trapped floodwater from flowing downstream.
As the incoming typhoon threatens to cause an overflow in the dam, residents in barangays Manduang, Tubod, Linao, Calajoan, Pakigne, and Tungkil are being evacuated to reduce the risk of casualties. The municipal government also conducted dredging activities on Saturday afternoon, November 8.
