Achraf Hakimi Joins Elite List for FIFA ‘The Best’ 2025 Award

Rabat– Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi is named among the 11 finalists for FIFA’s prestigious “The Best” 2025 Men’s Player Award, a recognition of his outstanding performances during the 2024/25 season.

The Paris Saint-Germain right-back has enjoyed a season filled with both team and individual accolades, cementing his status among the world’s elite players.

Hakimi’s remarkable season includes a UEFA Champions League triumph, a Ligue 1 title, a Coupe de France victory, and the Trophée des Champions, along with reaching the FIFA Club World Cup final.

Individually, he earned a spot in the CAF Team of the Year 2024, Ligue 1’s Team of the Season 2024/25, and the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season 2024/25. He also received the Marc-Vivien Foé Award as the best African player in Ligue 1 and ranked 6th in the 2024 France Football Ballon d’Or voting, further confirming his global reputation.

Hakimi joins a list of football heavyweights, including Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), and Barcelona stars Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and Raphinha. PSG teammates Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Ousmane Dembélé are also among the contenders.

Voting for the award is now open through FIFA’s dedicated app and will run until November 28, 2025. National team coaches and captains from FIFA’s 211 member associations, representatives from specialized media, and registered fans on FIFA.com will each account for 25% of the final vote.

Despite this nomination, Hakimi faces a setback, as he is expected to miss three to five weeks due to an ankle injury sustained during PSG’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.

The injury occurred after a forceful challenge by Bayern’s Luis Díaz, forcing Hakimi to leave the pitch in pain and tears just before halftime. According to L’Equipe, further medical tests are scheduled to determine the exact duration of his absence.
