The Grand Krathong Parade, featuring traditional dancers and elaborately designed floats, concluded the Yi Peng and Loy Krathong festivals in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on Nov. 6.
“When I see the lanterns and light candles at my house in Chiang Mai, I feel overwhelmed and homesick. It reminds me of Tazaungdaing and Thadingyut,” a Myanmar migrant worker living in Chiang Mai told DVB on the condition of anonymity.
Thailand and Myanmar, neighbouring countries with shared Buddhist cultural traditions, both celebrate the “Festival of Lights” to mark the end of the rainy season at the end of October or early November every year.
