The Stuttgart City Council voted to approve millage rates for the upcoming year during its regular meeting held Tuesday, Nov. 4, at city hall. All aldermen were present.

The council passed Ordinance 2036, levying the millage rates effective Jan. 1, 2026. The rates remain unchanged and have not been adjusted in several years.

Mayor Norma Strabala expressed her condolences to the family of the victim of Sunday afternoon’s shooting and thanked the police department for its work on the case.

Assistant Police Chief Kayla Jenkins presented Young Hero Awards to Kadiance Barefield and Arianna Barefield, and an Outstanding Civilian Award to Elizabeth Howton, for helping a resident in October.

The council approved the minutes of the previous meeting and voted to pay the bills before adjourning. The next regular meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at city hall.
