San José de Ocoa.- The Food Bank of the Dominican Republic (BARD) announced that it continues to assist families affected by the heavy rains caused by Hurricane Melissa in San José de Ocoa. With financial support from ADM, which funded the purchase of food and essential supplies, the organization has delivered aid packages containing food, drinking water, and other basic necessities to 100 impacted families.
According to BARD, this initiative highlights ADM’s commitment to vulnerable communities and its ongoing collaboration with the Food Bank to strengthen its humanitarian work. Additionally, PriceSmart’s Corporate Volunteering program joined efforts on Wednesday, helping prepare assistance kits at BARD’s facilities to ensure timely delivery to affected households in Ocoa.
Each aid box includes rice, lentils, beans, oil, pasta, flour, almond milk, and other essential foods sufficient for a family of four. The organization emphasized that this direct assistance is vital for communities in Ocoa, one of 14 provinces declared under a state of emergency by President Luis Abinader due to the severe damage caused by Hurricane Melissa.
