WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Woonsocket police say a man killed two people before taking his own life Monday night.
Officers were called to a home on Rathbun Street around 6:45 p.m. and found three gunshot victims. They were identified by police Tuesday as Kimberly Pieranunzi, 40, Donald Roderick Jr., 45, and Sean Rivera, 24.
According to police, Rivera and Pieranunzi’s 19-year-old daughter were “discussing their strained relationship” when he allegedly pulled out a gun and threatened her. The daughter told police Rivera assaulted her and she ran to her mother’s room, where Rivera shot Pieranunzi multiple times, police said.
The 19-year-old managed to escape and call police from a nearby business.
At that point, Roderick got home from work, and police said Rivera shot him before shooting himself.
Officers found a .380 caliber firearm at the scene, which was later found to be reported stolen from Maine, according to police.
Police said the incident was specific to the residents of that home and there was no threat to the public.
