“We do very well against the state, and that’s a credit to our teachers, our schools,” one school district official said.

Based on math and reading scores, St. George schools Crimson View Elementary and George Washington Academy are considered two of the best elementary schools in Utah, according to U.S. News and World Report’s annual rankings.
Crimson View was ranked No. 6. The national report showed 79% of its students scored at or above the proficient level for math and 70% scored similarly for reading.
George Washington Academy, which teaches K-7, was ranked the No. 4 charter elementary school in Utah. The report said 57% of its students scored at or above the proficient level for math and 60% scored similarly for reading.
Brent Bills, business administrator for the Washington County School District, which runs Crimson View, said the district offers a high-quality education by looking at test scores and figuring out what they can do to help students and raise student achievement.
“We do very well against the state, and that’s a credit to our teachers, our schools,” Bills said. “It’s also a credit to the people in our community, because when you have parents that support their schools, that care about education, that does a huge amount for education.”
The ranking report specifically analyzed the most recent assessment data available through the U.S. Department of Education: math scores from the 2022–23 school year and reading scores from 2021–22.
Here are the 2026 rankings for Washington County schools and traditional elementary and charter schools in the state.
