INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Award-winning children’s author Dave Grunenwald has released a new book, “Lucas and Emily’s Food Bank Adventure,” aiming to teach children about philanthropy through engaging storytelling.
The book, part of the Lucas and Emily’s Adventure series, was inspired by Grunewald’s connection with the Cleveland Food Bank and seeks to make concepts like food insecurity and homelessness accessible to young readers.
“I wanted to do my small part to help out, and that’s what gave rise to the book,” Grunewald said, reflecting on his motivation to write the latest installment.
Lucas and Emily, the protagonists of the series, embark on various adventures that introduce children to different themes and activities. Previous books in the series have included trips to the zoo and aquarium, as well as outdoor and cooking adventures.
Grunewald, who has an extensive career in real estate, was inspired to write by his daughter, also an author, and his grandsons, who motivated the creation of the Grandparent Merit Badge series.
The series is also expanding its reach with a Spanish language version of the latest book, continuing Grunewald’s tradition of offering his works in multiple languages.
In addition to the Lucas and Emily series, Grunewald has developed the Friends and Family Merit Badge Series, which encourages people of all ages to engage with their communities and families beyond digital screens.
With “Lucas and Emily’s Food Bank Adventure,” Grunewald hopes to inspire children to understand and act on important social issues, fostering a spirit of giving and community involvement. For more information, click here.
