Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Association of Former Koica Scholarship Recipients (Adekoica) reaffirmed its role as a key bridge of cooperation between the Dominican Republic and South Korea during its annual meeting held on October 30, 2025. The event, supported by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Korean Embassy, gathered government officials, diplomats, and members of the Korean community to celebrate 62 years of diplomatic relations between both nations.
The ceremony highlighted advances in bilateral collaboration in areas such as sustainable development, gender equality, digital transformation, and institutional strengthening. Korean Ambassador H.E. Sang Ryul Lee emphasized the importance of technological and cultural exchange as pillars for mutual growth and understanding. Adekoica, now composed of more than 760 Dominican officials—including 51 new alumni trained in 2025—continues to expand its network and impact.
President Addys Then presented the association’s 2025 achievements, including initiatives against gender-based violence, environmental reforestation in Villa Altagracia, cultural and educational workshops, and capacity-building programs with Dominican government institutions. Since 2014, Koica has invested around US$3.9 million in training Dominican public officials, reinforcing the strong and evolving partnership between both countries.
