New Delhi, India – The Kingdom of Eswatini has secured backing from the International Solar Alliance (ISA) to develop a comprehensive Solar Energy Roadmap aimed at expanding solar energy across the country.

The agreement was reached during the 8th session of the ISA in New Delhi, where His Royal Highness Prince Lonkhokhela, Minister of Natural Resources and Energy, met with ISA Director General Ashish Khanna. Discussions focused on collaboration to enhance the Kingdom’s solar energy sector.

Under the partnership, the ISA will assist Eswatini in designing a roadmap that guides solar energy deployment across all economic sectors. This includes support for solar home systems and assessments of solar technology pricing. The roadmap will also provide tools for setting clear targets on policy implementation, market design, regulatory frameworks, research, and deployment of solar technologies.

Solar energy solutions to be explored include solar photovoltaic systems for electricity, concentrating solar power, solar heating and cooling, solar cooking, and solar transport. The ISA will review Eswatini’s current energy policies and strategies and work with the Ministry and key stakeholders to finalize the roadmap.
