LIDWALA INSURANCE DONATES SUN PROTECTION PACKS TO SUPPORT PEOPLE WITH ALBINISM

MBABANE The Stukie Motsa Foundation has received a donation of 100 branded hats and 100 SPF 50+ sunscreens from Lidwala Insurance, in a gesture aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of people living with albinism in Eswatini.

The handover ceremony took place on October 30, 2025 at the company’s Manzini offices, where Lidwala Insurance reaffirmed its commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and ensuring that “no one is left behind”.

Speaking on behalf of the company, Gwalisile Dlamini said the initiative reflects Lidwala’s dedication to social impact, particularly for communities whose needs are often overlooked.

“We are proud to support persons with albinism, and we believe this donation will make a meaningful contribution to their health and safety,” she said.

The donation includes high-quality sunscreens and protective hats—items essential for preventing long-term skin damage caused by UV exposure, a major health risk for people with albinism.

Accepting the donation, Senator Stukie Motsa, founder and president of the Stukie Motsa Foundation, expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting that the support will make a tangible difference in the lives of many.

“People with albinism struggle to buy sunscreen and hats, even when they are employed, because these products are costly and needed every single day,” she said.
“This initiative will especially help those who cannot afford them at all. We are truly grateful to Lidwala Insurance for recognising this need.”

She added that the donation aligns strongly with this year’s International Albinism Awareness Day theme: “Demanding our rights: Protect our skin, preserve our lives.”

The foundation continues to advocate for accessibility, protection, and equal rights for people with albinism, calling on more organisations to follow Lidwala Insurance’s example.
