Rabat – Wydad Athletic have posted the formal video announcement of Hakim Ziyech, but before fans could even watch it twice, the Moroccan international was already pitchside for his initial training session with the Casablanca club.
Hakim Ziyech participated in his first training session with Wydad AC on Saturday morning at the Wellness Complex just hours after Wydad made an official announcement introducing Ziyech as one of their newest players. This was the first of many training sessions in the buildup to his forthcoming public presentation.
Ziyech’s initial announcement presenting him as a new signing to Wydad took place on Friday at the Mohammed Benjelloun Complex, with his mother — a symbolic and emotional moment. Both the club and Ziyech have confirmed that his presentation to supporters will take place on Sunday at the Mohammed V Stadium as part of the build-up to Wydad’s Botola Pro match against Ittihad Tanger.
The Wizard starts his Wydad journey
The video presents Ziyech using an imaginative, dark, and slow rhythm and storybook narration.
The deliberate tempo, haunted imagery, and deep narration are the ideal complement to Ziyech’s nickname “The Wizard.” The release was perfect timing for Halloween on Friday.
The short film presents Ziyech in a dark, cinematic narration:
“Once upon a time in a world filled with sorcerers, each perfecting their own magic, there was one who they all feared… He didn’t need a wand or chant spells. All he carried was a ball at his feet.”
Ziyech joins Wydad on a free transfer, signing until June 2027 with an option to extend. The former player of Chelsea and Ajax Amsterdam will wear the number seven, a number that has historical significance for Wydad.
The club and Wydad fans hope The Wizard will bring his magic to Casablanca.
