It might seem a bit early, but Christmas really isn’t that far away! Trier’s 45th annual Christmas market launches this year on 21 November, meaning you can get a head start on the yuletide vibes.

Sweat like a Roman at the Cascade water park near Bitburg next month. With fragrant infusions, a historically-themed buffet and a live show, it might just blow your toga off.

France

World War I ended at 11:00 on 11 November, 1918, and one of its deadliest battles took place at Verdun, roughly an hour and a half from Luxembourg by car. You can commemorate the historic day at the historic place and explore the old battlefields.

This immersive, 360-degree experience brings the works of Vincent van Gogh to life. Stars and swirls, rich colours and sensory experiences are part of this international – and immensely popular – exhibition.

Belgium

The Ardennes will be alive with the sound of hunting horns this November for the traditional Hunting Festival, which takes in Bouillon, a scenic castle town an hour from Luxembourg. Atmosphere, food and entertainment are all included, and you can even try some traditional “hunting beer”.

When: Sunday, 9 November to Tuesday, 11 November

Where: Bouillon, Belgium (entrance next to the Liège bridge)

Cost: Free admittance

Over 120 artisans will assemble in Arlon next month to offer their handicrafts. Jewelry, ceramics, textiles and more will be offered, and visitors can feast on various local products: cheese, charcuterie, maybe even some wine.

Luxembourg

Besides the beautiful scenery in and around Clervaux, in northern Luxembourg, you can also visit the Family of Man exhibition by one of the Grand Duchy’s greatest photographers, Edward Steichen. Guided tours are also available upon request.

When: Wednesdays to Sunday, 12:00 to 18:00

Where: Clervaux Castle, Luxembourg

Cost: Standard fee: €6

The end of November in the Grand Duchy is wine and crémant season, and you can try them all at this dedicated festival on Glacis. Over 500 varieties will be on offer, and there’ll be a Food Village (run by chef Julien Cliquet) with Luxembourgish specialities.
