Israeli journalist explores the divide in the American Jewish community

The war between Israel and Hamas cemented a divide among Jews in the U.S.

Romy Neumark, a longtime Israeli journalist, felt it. Neumark is currently a visiting lecturer at Harvard’s Center for Jewish Studies.

She created the podcast “My Home Fronts,” along with her co-creators Noa Amiel Lavie and Tina Tobey Mack.

The podcast explores the chasm in the American Jewish community. Neumark tells the story of one student’s political transformation and how it affects her relationship with her family. Neumark also taps into her own experiences on Harvard’s campus during heightened protests against Israel’s actions following Hamas’s Oct. 7 attacks.

This segment aired on October 31, 2025.
