The Kathina robe offering ceremony 2025 took place at the Maravijaya Monastery in the precinct of the Maravijaya Buddha Park in Dekkhinathiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory yesterday morning.
The ceremony was attended by Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and State Security and Peace Commission Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, to offer Kathina robes and offerings.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Presiding Patron of Pali Tekkatho Mingalazeyon Buddhism Learning Centre in Pyinmana Aggamaha Pandita Aggamaha Saddhammajotikadhaja Bhaddanta Vimala Buddhi, invited members of the Sangha and senior monks from Maravijaya Monastery.
First, the Senior General offered meals in the alms-bowl, fruits, flowers and water to the Buddha image in the monastery.
The Senior General and congregation took the Five Precepts from Presiding Patron of Maravijaya Monastery Aggamaha Pandita Aggamaha Saddhammajotikadhaja Bhaddanta Neminda while members of the Sangha recited Metta Sutta.
The Senior General and his wife donated Kathina robes and alms to the Presiding Patron of Maravijaya Monastery.
Commission Vice-Chairman Vice-Senior General Soe Win and his wife Daw Than Than Nwe presented Kathina robes and offerings to Presiding Patron of Pali Tekkatho Mingalazeyon Sayadaw.
Commission Member and Prime Minister U Nyo Saw and his wife, Commission Member and Executive Chief U Aung Lin Dwe and his wife, Commission member and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo and his wife, Commission members and Union ministers offered Kathina robes and offerings to members of the Sangha.
Mingalazeyon Sayadaw delivered a sermon, while the Maravijaya Monastery Sayadaw shared merits gained.
The Senior General and distinguished guests viewed around the display of Padethabin structures adorned with offerings to be donated to Maravijaya Monastery.
The Senior General and his wife performed the rituals of golden and silver showers to mark the successful completion of the ceremony.
After the ceremony, the Senior General, his wife and the congregation offered day meals to members of the Sangha.
At the ceremony, the value of the Kathina robe offering amounted to K53,501,000, including 12 Padethabin structures worth K25,167,600 and K28,333,400 in cash.
Also present at the ceremony were Union-level dignitaries, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and officials. — MNA/TTA
