The CIAC baseball and softball tournaments are underway this week and the softball quarterfinals will take place Friday and Saturday while baseball quarterfinals will take place Saturday, all at the site of the higher-seeded teams.

In softball, the defending champions – Fairfield Ludlowe (Class LL), Masuk (Class L), Woodland (Class M) and Coventry (Class S) – are all still playing.

In baseball, last year’s Class LL champion Amity was knocked out by 32nd-seeded Glastonbury in the first round and the Class L champion Woodstock Academy was beaten by Brookfield 1-0 in the second round. Class M champion Woodland is in Class S and will face top-seeded St. Paul Saturday and Coventry, last year’s Class S champion, will travel to Shepaug Valley for a quarterfinal Saturday.
