Taco John’s offering free meal to anyone who asks, due to SNAP benefits being cut

CASPER, Wyo. — Taco John’s recently announced that for the next three days, due to SNAP benefits being cut, they will be offering a free meal to anybody who asks.

A social media post from Taco John’s announced the move, stating that they’re offering the free meal because they believe people could use some help.

“Much like you, we have seen some unusual times right now,” the post reads. “With SNAP benefits being cut and people not being paid to work, we have a lot of people that could use some help. So, we’re going to do what we can.

“We are going to be offering a free meal to anyone who needs it. All we ask is that you come visit the store and ask for the ‘Community Special.’ We will be offering a bean or beef burrito, along with an order of Potato Olés for anybody in need. No questions asked.

“Our number one job is to feed our community. We are going to make sure that everybody can have a hot meal no matter what.”

Oil City News reached out to a local Taco John’s location for confirmation of the decision.

“Yep, it’s true. We just got the email,” said Theresa Chianca, the General Manager of the Mills Taco John’s location. “From October 31 to Sunday, Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. We’re doing a community special which includes one beef or bean burrito and a junior Potato Olé. One per guest, and they must be present.”

That means, Chianca said, that if you have a family of four, all four family members must be present. She also stated it will be honored in-store and via drive-through.

“It’s for anybody who has been impacted by the shutdown,” she said. “No questions asked, no documents needed.”

Chianca confirmed that this is a franchise-wide move, meaning that any location will honor the special from Oct. 31 through Nov. 2.

Oil City News previously reported that, due to the Federal Government shutdown, SNAP benefits would not be issued on Nov. 1.
