Melissa’s circulation to cause rainfall in border and Northwest regions

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) announced that a trough associated with Hurricane Melissa’s circulation will continue to generate rainfall over provinces along the Dominican Republic–Haiti border and the Northwest Line. The heaviest downpours are expected this afternoon in Elías Piña, Dajabón, Santiago Rodríguez, Valverde, Monte Cristi, and Santiago, with thunderstorms and gusty winds likely.

This Thursday morning, scattered showers—some heavy—are also anticipated along the Caribbean coast and southeastern regions, including Santo Domingo, due to warm, humid winds from the south and southeast.

Indomet noted that rainfall levels across the country have begun to decline after nearly ten days of persistent precipitation linked to Hurricane Melissa’s passage, which primarily affected the southern coastal areas.
