Dubai, UAE; 30 October 2025: Dubai’s cultural landscape continues to evolve with the opening of a new private art institution Dom Art Projects on 27 November 2025 in Al Khayat Avenue, a growing hub within the Al Quoz Creative Zone. Marking a significant addition to Dubai’s expanding creative economy and its commitment to nurturing independent, community-driven cultural initiatives, the institution is a contemporary art space that connects artists and audiences through a shared passion for art and culture. It serves as a ‘home’ or ‘dom’ for the culturally curious, fostering meaningful dialogue and a sense of belonging within the UAE.
Founded by Alisa Bagdonaite and Anna Pumpyanskaya, Dom Art Projects is dedicated to presenting museum-grade exhibitions and installations by emerging and mid-career artists. The institution offers a residency programme with three dedicated studios, and features a year-round educational programme with artist-led workshops, guided tours, and talks. It also plans to launch a publishing arm and a bookshop dedicated to art and culture – set to become Dubai’s first dedicated art and culture bookshop.
“Dom Art Projects was founded to foster dialogue, discovery, and engagement with the arts. As Dubai’s creative economy expands, we are proud to play a role in this movement by creating a space that supports artists, connects local and global perspectives, and brings communities together. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do, and we are building relationships with a close-knit network of arts practitioners to develop new partnerships, exhibitions and initiatives,” said Anna Pumpyanskaya, Director of Dom Art Projects.
Partnership with Bayt AlMamzar / Open Call
Continuing the spirit of collaboration, the institution announces partnership with Bayt AlMamzar, an independent arts space, on an open call for emerging UAE-based artists to apply for a residency studio within Dom Art Projects. The Open Call is now open and will close on 20 November 2025. Please click on this link to apply: https://forms.gle/v9kQkpJn359WpxW58.
Discovery and curatorial innovation
“The programmes we produce are thoughtful and intentional, designed to create museum-grade exhibitions by emerging and mid-career artists and high-quality experiences for audiences. Our curatorial approach is research-driven, collaborative, and rooted in cross-cultural dialogue. We want Dom Art Projects to be a place that fosters creativity where artists, researchers, curators, and the art-curious come together to share ideas and reimagine possibilities,” said Alisa Bagdonaite, Chief Curator of Dom Art Projects.
OPENING WEEKEND: 27–29 NOVEMBER 2025
The opening weekend invites the community to discover the space through a series of events:
Thursday 27 November from 8 pm onwards
The inaugural exhibition takes inspiration from the concept of time, a theme that mirrors Dom Art Project’s spirit of continuity and connection across cultures. The idea of time, reflected on the opening exhibitions, also plays on the meaning of ‘dom’ in the Arabic language which means ‘always.’
Occupying the main exhibition hall is an installation by Japanese artist Michiko Tsuda, known for immersive installations exploring perception, space, and exhibited in the UAE for the first time. Titled “You Would Come Back There to See Me Again the Following Day,” the work explores our perception of time in relation to the evolution of new media, their potential, and the representation of the human being within them. It reflects the idea that our presence in time is multiplied, refracted, and never singular.
Another project showcased is a science art object “Takir” by artist ::vtol::, a transdisciplinary artist and researcher working with sound, robotics, and emergent systems, speaks of geological time. It tells the story of the drying up of the Aral Sea, looping endlessly, accompanied by documentation, research materials, and reflections on the geography of Central Asia. The disappearance of the sea is both a story of the Earth’s fate and a reminder of the consequences of imperial ambition and human exploitation — as well as an invitation to reflect on time in a geological dimension.
Visitors are also welcome to tour the studios, which will be home to artists-in-residence, including the selected participant from the open call in partnership with Bayt AlMamzar; and explore a curated selection of books that Dom Art Projects describes as time machines, allowing us to connect with the greatest minds of humanity, transcending both geographical and temporal boundaries.
Friday 28 November to Saturday 29 November, from 3 to 6 pm
Artist Talks featuring Michiko Tsuda, whose practice explores how visual media mediates our understanding of time and presence, and ::vtol:: who examines science and robotics in contemporary art.
