Nate Danielson scored his first goal of the season and then tallied the lone goal of the shootout to lift the Grand Rapids Griffins to a 4-3 victory over the Iowa Wild.
The Griffins established a franchise record with a 6-0-0 start.
Michal Postava made 37 saves to improve to 3-0-0.
John Leonard scored his team-leading sixth goal at 11:13 of the third period to put Grand Rapids ahead 3-2 before Gerry Mayhew notched his second goal of the game with 27 seconds remaining to force overtime.
Alex Doucet (2:46) and Danielson (15:46) scored in the second period for the Griffins.
This was Danielson’s second game after returning from a preseason injury.
Iowa fell to 2-4-1.
Griffins forward Carter Mazur suffered a lower-body injury in practice earlier in the week and did not play. He is being evaluated, the team said.
Michael Brandsegg-Nygard, who the Red Wings on Monday assigned to Grand Rapids, led the Griffins with four shots on goal.
