Hajduk Split has claimed first place in the SuperSport HNL after 11 rounds, now sitting three points clear of second-placed Dinamo Zagreb. The shift came after Dinamo suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to last-placed Vukovar in the final match of the round on Monday. This marks Hajduk’s fifth consecutive victory under coach Gonzalo Garcia, the longest winning streak since he took charge of the club.
The weekend began with Hajduk traveling to face Gorica, where they secured a 3-1 win. The result extended their run, which included triumphs over Istra (3-0), Vukovar (1-0), and Lokomotiva (2-0). Hajduk demonstrated both consistency and resilience, particularly in away matches.
Rijeka also recorded a win on Monday, beatin Osijek 4-2 at Rujevica Stadium. Osijek opened the scoring through Šimun Mikolčić in the second minute, but Rijeka quickly turned the game around with goals from Toni Fruk and Duje Čop. In the second half, Čop struck again, followed by Mladen Devetak. Niko Farkaš scored his first senior goal for Osijek. Rijeka moved up to seventh, while Osijek remains second from the bottom.
Other notable results included Slaven Belupo defeating Varaždin 3-1 to climb to fourth place, tied on points with third-placed Lokomotiva, who lost to Istra (2-1).
With Hajduk now leading the standings, the title race is heating up. Dinamo will look to recover in the upcoming fixtures, while Hajduk seeks to maintain their momentum. The season is far from over, but the first 11 rounds have made one thing clear: Hajduk Split is in top form, and the hunt for the SuperSport HNL crown is wide open.
