A 25-year-old Little Rock man accused raping a woman at a Little Rock park while two preschool-age boys, one of them his son, waited for him in the car has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Treyvion Dequan Blakely pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual assault, reduced from rape, in exchange for the prison sentence imposed by Pulaski County Circuit Judge Karen Whatley, according to sentencing papers filed last week.
Under the conditions of his plea agreement, negotiated by deputy prosecutor Hayley Ferguson and Public Defender Leslie Borgognoni, a second rape count and charges of terroristic threatening and theft were dropped.
According to police reports and court files, Blakely was arrested on Jan. 30, about 2½ weeks after the attack was reported. He’s been jailed ever since.
The Little Rock police probe began on Jan. 4, when the Sherwood woman’s father called investigators to the Kroger store at 8824 Geyer Springs Road to report that his daughter’s attacker had taken her cellphone; he was able to track the device to the store and believed the man to still be inside.
Blakely was not at the store but police determined that he sold the woman’s phone at a self-service purchasing kiosk. Officers retrieved the phone, and detectives later received photographs and identifying information from the kiosk showing Blakely sold the phone for $20.
The woman could not immediately remember the assailant’s name, telling investigators she had communicated with him through Facebook over the past few months. She said they had met up in person the day before and spent some time together, including a consensual sexual encounter.
On Jan. 4, she said Blakely had picked her up at her home about 12:37 p.m. with his two sons in the car. Blakely drove them to a park somewhere in southwest Little Rock, she said, not knowing the name of the park. She said it had a lake and was near railroad tracks. Based on her description, investigators determined she was talking about the 11-acre Ottenheimer Park, 7201 Dahlia Drive, which has a large pond at its center, next to Union Pacific tracks.
The woman said she’d been expecting Blakely to take her to the movies in North Little Rock but when they drove past the theater, she assumed they were going to a Little Rock show.
Instead, they went to the park. She said she and Blakely got out of the car there to smoke marijuana, leaving the boys in the car. After they had smoked, Blakely asked her for oral sex but she turned him down because they were in a public park and the children were in the car.
Blakely made her walk with him to a concrete drainage area by the tracks and some woods, she said.
Exposing himself, Blakely demanded oral sex. Then, after making her undress and threatening to crush her skull with a rock, he raped her. Then, he left her in the park.
She said she used a stick to fish her clothes out of the water, and upon realizing her purse and phone were missing started walking out of the park until a man stopped to help her, letting her use his phone so she could call her family.
The woman “was extremely upset and could be observed shaking and crying during the entire interview,” the detective, Nicole Noel, wrote in her report. She “kept her eyes closed while giving the statement to detectives and stated she keeps having flashbacks.”
Police believe the attack occurred at a large storm drain at that park and documented a large rock, like the woman described, under a concrete railroad bridge.
Investigators obtained security video from the recreation center at the park, which shows a four-door grey 2012 Honda Civic pull into the par at 1:27 p.m., Jan. 4, then leave at a high speed at 1:54 p.m., with the woman later walking out of the park carrying some of her wet clothes. She can be heard crying on the recording.
From a neighbor of the woman’s, police were able to document a gray Honda Civic on her street at 12:43 p.m.
Once she got her phone back, the woman showed police her attacker’s Facebook page, which showed his name to be Trey Aziz. Through the city’s traffic-surveillance system, police obtained the Honda’s license plate number and trace its ownership to 25-year-old Allyssa Marie Bryant of Little Rock.
After police contacted her about the car, she identified Blakely as her boyfriend. She told police that Blakely, who had his 4-year-old son with him, had been using her car that day after dropping her off at work. He also took her 5-year-old boy to basketball practice, she said.
Bryant said Blakely and the boys had picked her up from work and she had taken him and his son to his mother’s home and left them there. Shown a photo of the Trey Aziz Facebook page, Bryant identified Aziz as Blakely.
About two weeks after police encountered the woman, Blakely sat for an interview in which he described picking the woman up from her house with the boys in Bryant’s car.
He said they planned to go to the movies but the boys fell asleep in the car so they went to Ottenheimer Park.
He said they walked around for five to 10 minutes, with the woman falling into a creek at one point. He steadfastly maintained that he had no sexual contact with the woman that day at the park.
Blakely said they argued over the woman wanting him to take her home, with Blakely saying he refused because to do so would have made him late for work. He said he got so mad that he left her at the park.
Blakely said he had gone straight home then and stayed there playing games. Confronted by proof that he’d sold the woman’s phone at the Kroger kiosk, he admitted he had done so after she gave him the phone. He would later tell detectives that he did have sex with the woman at the park. Police arrested him nine days after the interview.
Court records show Blakely has been on probation since August 2023, when he pleaded guilty to felony marijuana possession stemming from a June 2021 arrest in North Little Rock during a traffic stop. Police also found a gun in his car.
Following three arrests in Sherwood and North Little Rock between May 2022 and August, his probation was extended in August 2023 after he pleaded guilty to breaking or entering and two counts of theft.
