The large-webbed bell toad, first documented and found in Kachin State, Myanmar.
The first new record paper for this toad was written by Ko Win Paing Oo, an admin of the NSCI group, and was announced via its social media page on 27 October.
NSCI stated that this venomous toad, scientifically named Bombina maxima, was only found in China. The current documentation marks its first record in Myanmar.
The post stated: ” It was discovered by NSCI member Ko Than Htike Aung in Chipwe Township, Kachin State, at an altitude of 1,530 meters above sea level. Our team decided to prepare a paper using these photos, in consultation with Ko Than Htike Aung.”
Therefore, this record is a testament that many undocumented species still exist in Myanmar, species that countless scholars have not discovered across generations.
