A JOHOR woman has reported losing RM30,000 after being deceived by a TikTok seller claiming to offer luxury handbags
The 46-year-old welfare worker, who asked to be identified only as Mikki, 55, said she was drawn to the posts advertising handbags priced between RM2,000 and RM3,000.
She invited friends involved in her charitable work to purchase the items as well.
“Many of them were interested and deposited sums of RM2,000 to RM3,000 into the bank account provided for the handbags,” Mikki told Sinar Harian.
The group only realised they had been scammed when the handbags they received were unbranded counterfeits. Attempts to contact the seller proved futile, with phone numbers either blocked or disconnected.
“More upsetting is that some of us, including myself, are housewives with no steady income. Losing our savings is extremely distressing,” she said, urging authorities to take immediate action. – October 28, 2025
