GenZ212 Announces Last-Minute Change in Protest Locations

Rabat – Morocco’s youth-led movement GenZ212 announced today new changes in the gathering points for its ongoing protests, shifting key locations in Casablanca and Oujda while keeping the rest of the cities unchanged.

In a statement shared on social media, the movement said demonstrations in Casablanca would now take place at Place Maréchal instead of the Hay Hassani district, and in Oujda at Place Roma rather than the previous site. It urged participants to “adhere to the new gathering points and organizational instructions to preserve order and unity.”

The statement ended with the slogan: “Thought cannot be suppressed, and the voice cannot be silenced.”

Today marks the second consecutive day of GenZ212’s nationwide demonstrations after the group resumed its peaceful mobilization this weekend. The protests, scheduled for October 25 and 26, are being held in several cities, including Rabat, Agadir, Marrakech, Tangier, and Fez.

The youth-led collective has become a symbol of a growing demand for accountability and social justice in Morocco.

Through largely peaceful marches, participants have called for stronger anti-corruption mechanisms, improved access to healthcare and education, and greater transparency in public institutions.

While the Moroccan government recently increased budgets for healthcare and education, GenZ212 maintains that these measures remain insufficient without “clear mechanisms to combat corruption and link responsibility with accountability.”

As the protests enter their second day, the movement’s message remains consistent: genuine change, they argue, will only come through systemic reform and the immediate release of detained peaceful protesters.
