INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man is in critical condition and another person is stable Wednesday after a shooting on the city’s near-north side.
At 8:43 p.m. Wednesday, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched to the 200 block of West 38th Street on a report of a person shot. That is a residential area on the city’s near-north side. Officers arrived and found a man with gunshot wounds inside a black SUV. A tourniquet was applied to the man’s wounds until medics arrived. The man was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.
Shortly after, another person called in and said they were shot in the 3600 block of Boulevard Place. This person said they weren’t involved in the original shooting and they were struck by a stray bullet. This person was taken in stable condition to Methodist Hospital.
Officers found multiple shell casings in the 200 block of West 38th Street. Investigators are searching for doorcam video, possible witnesses, and business video. A vehicle is believed to have been involved in the incident.
Investigators did not immediately provide any additional information.
