JAMESTOWN (NewsDakota)- It was a night all too familiar in 2025 for Jamestown Bluejays football.
Liam Frye reached 1,000 rushing yards for the season, but it was the St. Mary’s running game that led the Saints to their third straight win, a 33-19 decision, to close the regular season at Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium on Friday night.
The game started with the Bluejays (1-8) driving the length of the field as Frye capped off the drive with a 3-yard score for a 6-0 lead. The senior had 147 yards and two touchdowns on the night, finishing the 2025 campaign with 1,010 yards on the ground.
But Tommy Wilson found Jackson Barth for a 13-yard touchdown to level the game at 6 before Karson Schmidt delivered a 25-yard touchdown strike to Cale Verke to give Jamestown the lead at 12-6. But the Saints (4-5) responded as Beckett Price gave them the lead with a 10-yard scamper, part of a 159 yard, three touchdown performance on the ground and it was 13-12 at the break.
Frye added a second touchdown on the opening drive of the second half from 30 yards to give Jamestown a 19-13 lead, but over the final 20 minutes, St. Mary’s outscored the Jays 20-0.
Jamestown concludes its’ season 1-8, losing eight straight for the first time since 2016.
