PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A pedestrian was seriously injured when he was hit by a van while crossing the street in Providence Thursday night.

Kristy DosReis, a spokesperson for the Providence Police Department, told 12 News the man was struck near the intersection of Branch Avenue and Abram Street.

DosReis said the victim was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital with a “serious head injury.”

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
